What a browser will and will not reveal
Browsers report the number of processor threads, a rounded memory figure (capped at 8 GB), the graphics renderer through WebGL, and in Chromium browsers the CPU architecture and exact system version through Client Hints.
No website can read your processor model, installed RAM, disk size, serial numbers, motherboard or network card MAC address. A site that claims to show them is guessing.
Windows 11 shows as Windows 10?
The user-agent string froze at Windows NT 10.0, so Windows 11 looks like 10 there. Chromium browsers report the real version through the platformVersion client hint: 13 or higher means Windows 11. Firefox does not offer the hint, so it cannot tell the two apart.
Questions
- Why does it say 8 GB when I have 32 GB?
- navigator.deviceMemory is rounded to a power of two and capped at 8 GB so it cannot help identify you. It is an estimate for sites deciding how heavy a page to send.
